Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October, 1964 is a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president and she also holds the title of most powerful female officer in American history. She is a member and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and then elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election and became the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and advocated for healthcare reform and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
